The Video Game Trophy Room: Episode 65 - Silver Surfer

NES: Silver Surfer

Holy. Fuck. I did it. I've been trying to beat this game since AVGN reviewed it about June of 2007. Up until then I had never even played it. I've played it off and on over the course of those two years, but I never managed to beat it all in one sitting. I got to the point where I could beat 3 or for bosses before I'd just get frustrated and die. Tonight however I seemed to have had lots of good luck, and, maybe most important, I had a good strategy.

At first when you play this game it seems like every stage is impossible. However in my personal opinion Mephisto and Firelord are the most annoying, followed by Reptyl. Knowing this I tackled Mephisto first. If you can make it through that level with your power ups then Firelord will be much easier. Once I cleared Firelord I moved onto Reptyl. I found that after clearing those three the Possessor and Emporer's levels weren't too bad. Other than the order, make sure you make good use of your bombs. Bombs have saved me so many times I can't even count. End of the day it just comes down to memorizing the levels.

In the words of AVGN "the difficulty is legendary". Now after my Battletoads experiment I have to say while this game is hard, that game is still the king of hard fucking games... That being said, this game does not fuck around. I dare you to play it.

The Video Game Trophy Room: Episode 64 - Vectorman

Genesis: Vectorman

This one here is for Mandie who told me I should play this game. I don't have much experience with the Genesis/Mega Drive. I never owned a Sega system as a kid as I was more of a Nintendo guy. The only time I got a chance to play on a Genesis was at other friends houses who had the system. One of them luckily happened to have this game.

Probably one of the better games on the Genesis I think, bearing in mind my exposure to the system is limited, but I say that having the knowledge of hundreds of NES/SNES platformers behind me and I think this game could definitely compete head to head with a lot of them.

It's not a hard game, or a long game, I think I beat it in about 30-40 minutes but it was a lot of fun. The only thing that pissed me off were in the last few levels those damn Beedle enemies. Things are assholes! I almost ran out of time because they kept respawning. Either way I'd recommend this one.

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas

Oh hell yeah! I love this game. Took me... a long time to beat it. Still have a few things to do but for the most part it's done.

This is my favourite GTA game (but Vice City defiantly had a cooler character). I don't really have much to say, or need to say anything. It's GTA, everyone knows the drill. Probably going to start up GTA4 soon, maybe we will have a new contender to the crown?

The Video Game Trophy Room: Episode 62 - DuckTales

NES: DuckTales

Wow it's been a while since I beat a game! In my defense I am working through some really heavy duty games right now, so they are taking some time. Plus school was getting in the way of game time. Gotta get a degree and all that.

Decided to take a break from all that today and beat DuckTales on the NES! Played it on Difficult mode and it still only took me about 15 minutes to complete. Nice fun game. Also the moon level has got to have one of the best background themes I have ever heard.

Also it's kind of an anniversary for me and this game. It came out in September of 1989, and I literally begged my parents to get it for me for months! In November the video store that I rented games from FINALLY got it... and I rented and beat it in a day. Suddenly... I was glad my parents refused to get it for me. But even so, it's a great game to kill some time if you aren't like me and know where all the treasures are >.>.

The Video Game Trophy Room: Episode 61 - Bioshock

PC: Bioshock
Woo hoo, new game beaten! This didn't take me very long, 10 or so hours. I managed to save all the Little Sisters as well and got the good ending :D.

Game is scary as fuck, had me jumping at ghosts quite a few times, especially when playing with headphones on. If you like FPS (or even if you don't) I would recommend it. A lot of fun.
