The Video Game Trophy Room: Episode 25 - The Legend of Zelda

NES:
The Legend of Zelda
You know back when I first got my NES I was about 3 years old and games like this never really interested me. By the time I got old enough to appreciate it the NES was almost ready for retirement. I'll be quite honest the first time I have ever beaten this game, and man was it hard. It took me about 10 hours to beat this... because I had no idea where I was going and I just happened to get lucky a lot of the time. There were parts that were tedious, and parts that had me pulling my hair out in frustration (damn you ganon's dungeon, that was about an extra 2 hours of game time alone!) but all in all it's so easy to see why this game set the standard for RPGs to come. The mother of all Zelda games... and even though it's over 20 years old it is just as much fun as it was when it was brand new. The 25th game added to the collection and I don't think I could have picked a more epic game for the challenge.

Super Mario Bros. 2
I put this game off for a while. I had originally planned to beat Super Mario Bros 1, 2 and 3 in order, but then I started 3... and well yada yada yada here we are. I can't believe how short this game is; only 20 levels! Even though I played the Super Mario All-stars version I kicked it old school and played it straight through to the end. Also just because I knew they give a count at the end I made sure each character had equal playing time, not to mention the fact that some levels are way easier as certain people (I'm looking at you Luigi and Princess). I was bitching about this game the other day because it's just a rip off but... you know what, rip off or not it's fun as hell and I think it makes a good Mario game.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic
One of the best RPGs out there in recent years. Pretty long too, I think it took me about 17 hours to finish it. I skipped a few quests and cut scenes though but they weren't anything major. I was light sided if you couldn't tell. I'll have to beat it again as a Dark Sided Jedi.

What can I say about this game really? Everyone knows my love story with Oblivion. Take that game, add guns. Recipe for my adoration if I ever saw one. It's a shame this game is so short, but hey, everyone lives because of me.

Mega Man 3
This game is long. Beat 8 Robots, Ok.
Beat the other 8 robots from Mega Man 2, sure.
Beat the 8 robots from Mega Man 3, again.
Fight some other mini bosses along the way, kill Wily... and get saved by that bitch ass Protoman.

And damn! This is game 20! Woooooooooooo. 20 games in under a month, as Luigi would say, I like dat!

I'm a super fightin' robot from the year 2010,
On a quest from Dr. Light to make the city safe again.
See all these robots were created to make the planet safe,
'Til Dr. Wily double crossed us and set fire to the place.
Dr. Wily had other plans - TO TAKE OVER THIS BITCH-
Reprogramed my brother, and stole all them shitz.
My name is Mega Man on my jet dog Rush,
Got a cannon arm for y'all to keep your mouth shut. C'mon!

Kung Fu
This is an NES classic. Short and sweet, and just the right level of challenge. I still can't make it to the end without taking a hit somewhere. Either some knife asshole gets me. Or one of those midgets jumps and hits me...But it's so fun.

The Video Game Trophy Room: Episode 17 - Pocky And Rocky

SNES:
Pocky And Rocky
I've been on a Japanese side-scroller kick lately. This is a pretty short game, only six stages! That's even less than Mystical Ninja's (which only had 9) so I beat it in well under an hour. For anyone wondering I was Pocky, not Rocky. Shrine girl is > Raccoon any day!

I hate this game. I didn't when I first played it, but I hate it now. Why do they always change up the names of shit when they release it? Kid Ying? Really? REALLY? Aside from that, it's a good game, but the one they released for N64 is far better in my opinion.

Well I did it. I beat it again, and not only that I found all the stars, and got every coin in every level. Obsessive? Maybe. Worth it? Totally. The best part? The Cake in this game is not a lie!

So technically you can't "win" this game... But banging an asian while your wife is at work is close enough to count in my opinion.
